Woodstock Institute recently signed on to a letter led by Americans for Financial Reform (AFR) in support of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) plan to reinstate the disparate impact rule. This Obama era rule states that a policy that results in disparities for a protected class, and whose purpose can be accomplished with a less discriminatory policy, violates anti-discrimination protections. This rule is also supported by decades of precedents in case law.
