Woodstock recently signed on to a letter led by the National Consumer Law Center (NCLC) to the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA). As borrowers exit their COVID relief forbearance terms and resume making payments on their mortgages, some who pay their property taxes via escrow might have an escrow shortage. This letter urges FHFA to require that government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac conduct an escrow analysis and help borrowers address any shortages.
