Woodstock signed on to a letter led by the National Fair Housing Alliance (NFHA) to respond to the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) request for comment on their proposal on identifying and managing bias in artificial intelligence (AI). If AI is used in financial services without safeguards against bias and disparities, it has the potential to perpetuate, amplify, and accelerate historical patterns of discrimination. Advocates applaud NIST’s proposal for analyzing and identifying bias in AI throughout the process of development and implementation, and NIST’s work seeking input on this proposal.
