Woodstock Institute signed on to a letter led by Financial Inclusion for All Illinois (FIAI), a project of Heartland Alliance, urging the Illinois congressional delegation (and Rep. Danny Davis in particular) to support the update and expansion of the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program in the budget reconciliation process. This is a critical income source for older adults and people with disabilities. In Illinois, nearly 260,000 people rely on SSI to pay for their basic needs like food, shelter, and utilities.
