Community Lending Fact Book: 2022 Data Edition

Woodstock Institute is excited to announce the release of our Chicago Area Community Lending Fact Book: 2022 Data Edition. Published every year, our Community Lending Fact Books provide in-depth information about trends in mortgage lending, foreclosures, small business lending, and bank branches across the seven-county Chicago region down to the neighborhood level.

Woodstock’s Community Lending Fact Books and Data Portals draw on data made available by two federal laws – the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA) and Community Reinvestment Act (CRA), both passed in the 1970s. Learn more about the history of these laws and the data they require financial institutions to provide here.

This is the final year we will be publishing this data as both a hardcopy book and a PDF. In future years, data will appear exclusively on our Community Lending Data Portal. This powerful tool allows us to expand on our mission of democratizing data by allowing stakeholders to easily splice and compare data in new ways, facilitating deeper and more precise analysis on lending activity in Chicago. Previous fact books will still be available for download.

Woodstock researchers will break down what we found and why it matters at our upcoming Lunch and Learn presentation on the new Community Lending Fact Book 2022 Data Edition. RSVP here.
