At our Community Investment Awards & Film Screening event on May 9, we will be showing “Fleeced: Speaking Out Against Senior Financial Abuse,” a short film produced by the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC) and WFYI. The film tells the stories of older Americans and their families whose lives were upended by financial abuse and what they have done to fight back.

Register for the event

After the screening, an expert panel will discuss the implications of senior financial abuse and how we can protect older Americans from this type of fraud. The panel will include a variety of perspectives on the issue, with insights from:

  • John Taylor, President and CEO of NCRC;
  • Kim Jacobs, Producer of “Fleeced;”
  • Ernie Lukasik, Northwest Side Housing Center; and
  • Rev. Elaine Bellis from Gamaliel  Metro Chicago and the Episcopal Diocese of Chicago.

I hope you can join me at Instituto Cervantes on May 9 for this thought-provoking film and our expert panel discussion on a critical topic.
