“In its first year on the job, the CFPB has demonstrated that it takes seriously its mission to make financial markets work better for all consumers,” says Dory Rand. “I am honored to accept the appointment to the Consumer Advisory Board and welcome the opportunity to elevate the issues facing low-wealth consumers to the attention of this crucial agency.”

Rand was appointed to the first slate of Consumer Advisory Board members along with 24 other experts from across the nation representing nonprofits, academia, the financial industry, and more. Several members of the National Community Reinvestment Coalition, upon whose board Rand also serves, were named to the Consumer Advisory Board. The Board’s charter contains more information on the Board’s role and authorities.

Rand is currently the president of the Woodstock Institute, a position she has held since 2008.  Previously, she was a Supervising Attorney of the Community Investment Unit at the Sargent Shriver National Center on Poverty Law; a Senior Attorney for the Legal Assistance Foundation of Chicago; an Associate Attorney at Mandel, Lipton & Stevenson; and a Staff Attorney at the ACLU of Illinois.  Ms. Rand has extensive experience on boards and with professional associations related to banking, housing, home ownership, and asset building, among others.
