Woodstock Institute recently signed on to a letter supporting the Consumer Protection and Recovery Act (H.R. 2668). The letter was led by the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA). This bill would restore the authority of the Federal Trade Commission to pursue a full range of remedies on behalf of defrauded consumers, including refunds. The FTC had used this authority for decades to protect consumers, but a recent decision from the U.S. Supreme Court said that Congress needed to clarify the FTC’s authority through legislation.
