For nearly four decades, Woodstock Institute has published and analyzed community lending data covering the Chicago region in our Community Lending Fact Books and Data Portal, making critical information on racial and economic financial disparities freely available to all. Our goal is to provide stakeholders, including community leaders, government officials, and representatives of financial institutions, with the resources they need to champion fair housing and hold lenders accountable.
Now, we are expanding on this mission to democratize data by partnering with advocates around the country to make similar data easily available for those wishing to address lending disparities in their communities. If you are interested in working with us to bring a similar tool to your locality, we’d love to work with you. Find our contact info here or email our Research Team.
Massachusetts
As part of a multi-year partnership with Partnership for Financial Equity, we created the 2021 and 2022 Mortgage Lending Matters reports and corresponding fact books, which provide an in-depth look at mortgage lending in Massachusetts to low- and moderate-income households and borrowers of color. We also created Small Business Lending Matters, which examines where in the state and to whom lenders are making loans to small businesses.

Central Indiana
We worked with the Fair Housing Center of Central Indiana (FHCCI) to create a new Community Lending Data Portal providing easy access to key fair housing metrics in Central Indiana. FHCCI intends for this portal to be a tool for learning about lending trends, identifying mortgage lenders active in the area, and evaluating whether lenders are meeting fair lending standards.
St. Louis Metropolitan Area
We have created a new Community Lending Data Portal for the St. Louis Equal Housing and Community Reinvestment Alliance (SLEHCRA) to shed new light on lending trends across Greater St. Louis.
