Comptroller Hood brings extensive experience in community reinvestment to the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency
The U.S Department of the Treasury appointed Rodney E. Hood as Acting Comptroller of the Currency. Prior to this role, Hood notably served as a Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Officer at NationsBank (now Bank of America) and as National Director of Community Development Lending at Wells Fargo. This work involves ensuring financial institutions meet the credit needs of communities where they take deposits, including through mortgage and small business lending. CRA activity also includes community development projects such as affordable housing, community facilities like daycare centers, and disaster remediation.
Horacio Mendez, President & CEO of Woodstock Institute, said, “As the first CRA officer to lead the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), Acting Comptroller Hood brings extensive experience in community development to a key federal regulatory role. His work in this area shows he knows the value of the CRA for both communities and the private sector, and we hope the OCC continues to be a partner in this work as key new CRA rules await implementation.”
We also share Acting Comptroller Hood’s deep commitment to financial inclusion and look forward to finding common ground in this area, including by increasing access to financial services in lower-income communities.”
