We are gearing up for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition’s (NCRC) annual conference entitled “A Just Economy: Ideas, Action, Impact.” The conference will feature an exciting slate of workshops and plenaries on community organizing and advocacy, housing, access to capital and credit, workforce and community development, fair lending, and business development.
Woodstock Institute staff will be presenting and moderating in several sessions at the conference, including panels on student loans, legislative advocacy, and using data to drive the movement for community investment.
On the morning of March 13, Woodstock Institute, Illinois allies, and hundreds of advocates from across the country will make our annual trek to Capitol Hill to speak with our elected officials and their staff about local needs and how they can help us protect and revitalize our communities and ensure access to fair and affordable financial products and services. We gather at a Congressional Luncheon afterward to report out on our meetings. Illinois typically brings the largest state delegation of advocates and this is one of the highlights of the conference.
Other conference highlights include keynotes from Comptroller of the Currency Tom Curry and HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan, and the annual NCRC Awards dinner Friday evening.
I hope to see you at the conference! To coordinate with the Illinois group that will be attending the conference, please contact Courtney Eccles at email@example.com or 312-368-0310. Hotel rooms at a special discounted rate are filling up fast.
