The US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently released proposed rules improving regulations that carry out the Fair Housing Act’s requirement to ensure that all federal agencies administer their programs relating to housing and community development in a manner that affirmatively furthers fair housing. While the rules are a major improvement, they could be strengthened in some areas.

Woodstock Institute drafted a sign-on letter suggesting improvements such as creating a mechanism to appeal HUD decisions, requiring greater transparency, and requiring consideration of regional housing needs. If your organization would like to sign on to the letter, please let us know by 5 pm on Monday, September 16.
