CHICAGO – A new report indicates that housing
counselors are in high demand in the Chicago area and many communities still
don’t have access to their services.

The study was released Tuesday by
the Woodstock Institute and Housing Action Illinois. It says that counseling
agencies were involved in just 7.3 of every 100 foreclosure cases in 2008.

The report in part relies on a survey of area counseling agencies. Of
those that responded, 83 percent told researchers they’re at full capacity.
Another 17 percent say they can’t fill open housing counselor positions.
