Summary 

This report contains the results of these four major tasks. Part One consists of an assessment of Old Kent’s original CRA statement. A revised expanded CRA statement to be considered by the Bank is included in the Appendix. Part Two consists of a proposed job description for a Community Affairs Officer to oversee the Bank’s community reinvestment activities and compliance. Part Three is a list of community institutions, organizations, and local government agencies with which the Bank should be in regular contact regarding community credit needs. Part Four contains a list of community reinvestment opportunities that the Bank might consider pursuing. Part Five includes a targeted marketing strategy and a partial list of minority newspapers in Chicago that can be used for marketing a reinvestment program designed to serve low- and moderate-income and minority community residents. Part Six is a management by objectives plan and process for implementing the Bank’s community reinvestment strategies.
