Summary
The purpose of this paper was to suggest that an important part of the new look must be to rethink the fundamental relationship between the demand, supply, and marketing of single-family residential mortgage credit in mature communities. It will argue that mortgage demand is primarily a function of marketing, and furthermore, that in order to market effectively, lenders must use indicators of both active and latent demand to assist them in fulfilling their obligations to meet the credit needs of their communities.
