A premise of the Woodstock Institute’s approach is that the choice is not simply between sound business practices and charity. There are several intervening levels of community lending that can satisfy community credit needs without compromising the business interests and fiduciary responsibilities of the bank. The Concentric Circle model which is described in this paper has been developed as a planning tool for financial institutions wishing to address several goals.
