Summary
This guidebook was produced by Woodstock Institute in recognition and the importance of ensuring that community organizations and lenders have adequate information about the range of strategies available to facilitate reinvestment. Although reinvestment activity before 1977 was significant, the passage of the Community Reinvestment Act encouraged more community organizations and financial institutions to become actively involved in efforts to address community credit needs. The guidebook was primarily oriented to community organizations and community-based development corporations. However, it may also be useful to financial institutions and local and state governments interested in tools to stimulate reinvestment. This document is not meant to be comprehensive. The reader should not initiate or encourage the initiation of a particular program exclusively on the basis of information presented in this guidebook.
